Dorahy guitars and mandolins are handcrafted by father and son, Les and Pete Dorahy at our Booyong workshop situated in the beautiful far north coast region of N.S.W. Australia, 15 km west of Byron Bay.
We began making instruments in the late 90’s. Since then we have been passionately pursuing the highest standards in our craft, repairing and restoring as well as designing and making new instruments to client’s specifications.
Our instruments are completely handmade by us and utilize the finest grade tonewoods, materials and hardware. All fine woodwork and carving is done using hand tools. We like to keep machining to a minimum, this way we get the best out of our materials. Every instrument is finely made and unique.
Our catalogue of acoustic stringed instruments is expanding. We have a special interest in building projects that are a little out of the mainstream. We make Mandocellos, Octave Mandolins, Selmer style jazz guitars, Wiessenborn guitars, Baritone Resophonic guitars, Steel string guitars, Ouds and square and round neck resonator instruments, as well as carved top/back A and F style mandolins.
